The company has quite a history behind it. At the end of the 40’s three partners, Fausto Buiani, Mario Buiani and Attilio Brun start up an artisan activity, focusing on wooden furniture accessories for the local market.
The 60’s witness the introduction of the first chair models - now traditional pieces like “ Pisa” and “Milano” – and of some folding chairs. These models decree a new nationwide success which allows the company to develop and to choose the path of mechanization.
The 70’s trace today’s trend: in these years the company begins producing “book” folding chairs: their opening and folding movements clearly recall the opening and closing of a book. At the same time the company starts producing coordinate folding tables. The 80’s lead to the restructuring and enlargement of the production sites which are preparing for a more massive production but which, in fact, are already delivering hundreds of pieces every day among the proposed chairs and tables.
The real turn, however, takes place only halfway through the 80’s, when the change in the company’s leadership (the present one) also determines a new course: the entire furniture selection is discontinued in favour of one single folding chair. This choice is also supported by the reorganization of the production sites, which become automated and therefore suitable for industrial production. The European market orientation, in the meantime, becomes virtually global and the company starts attracting the first American, Australian and Central American customers.
The 90’s represent another fundamental stage, as this is when a new production site opens in a new industrial district. Production plants and machinery change once more, providing innovative opportunities. Collaborations with companies related to the Trieste University and Research Area lead to the development of artificial vision systems for quality control. Much has been achieved in terms of organization, especially as far as quality certification (company, environment, products) and relations with customers and suppliers are concerned. These choices have certainly contributed to the improvement of our products, to the increase of our production capacity and service level and especially to the achievement of an excellent repetitive and qualitative standard.
Today, the company is readier than ever to learn and put itself to the test.
